Onboard and check a carrier
Look up authority, record insurance and see risk flags before you book freight.
Open a carrier and use its Compliance tab.
- Check FMCSA open data: looks up the carrier's MC or DOT number and records its authority status, legal name, fleet size and whether liability insurance is on file.
- Record insurance policies: auto liability, cargo, general liability and workers compensation, with limits and expiry dates. FleetOne warns before they expire.
- Review the findings: FleetOne calculates risk flags, such as inactive authority, a name that does not match, a missing or expired policy, or the same phone or email as another carrier.
- Approve or reject, with a written reason.
Be aware of the limits. FMCSA open data updates daily and does not include out-of-service orders or safety ratings, so check those on the FMCSA SAFER site and record them. A check is evidence for your review, not an approval, and it does not replace your own due diligence.
